    Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model in finite volumes

We discuss the 2+1 flavor Polyakov loop enhanced Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model in a finite volume. The main objective is to check the volume scaling of thermodynamic observables for various temperatures and chemical potentials. We observe the possible violation of the scaling with system size in a considerable window along the whole transition region in the TμqT-\mu_q plane

Finite temperature properties of a modified Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model

Thermodynamic properties of strongly interacting matter are investigated using the Polyakov loop enhanced Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model along with some modifications to include the hadrons. Various observables are shown to have a close agreement with the numerical data of QCD on lattice. The advantage of the present scheme over a similar study using a switching function is that here no extra parameters are to be fitted. As a result the present scheme can be easily extended for finite chemical potentials.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure

Background: In developing countries like India acute respiratory infection (ARI) contributes in child mortality upto 75% and out of 10, 7 deaths are due to ARI. The knowledge of the mothers towards the disease is a significant determinant of child’s health. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study included 100 mothers of children 0-5 years admitted in pediatric ward and postnatal ward in selected hospital Siliguri during the year 2022 in the month of March. Data was collected using structured interview method. Results: 20% of mothers have good knowledge in prevention and 33% had good knowledge in management of ARI.Conclusions: As the leading cause of death among children, knowledge assessment about ARI among the mothers is very important, which helps for better understanding of the intensity of the problem

Aldehyde assisted wet chemical route to synthesize gold nanoparticles

1147-1151Evolution of stable gold nanopanieles from an aqueous solution of HAuCl4 in the absence of any stabilizer is reported. Aqueous solutions of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde have judiciously been employed as effective reducing agents for the particle preparation. The study indicates the differential reducing action of the aldehydes, which in turn gives an indication of the effect on the stability, size and shape of the evolved gold particles. The effect of temperature during the synthesis to have a control over the sizes has also been studied
